Pottstown and Equitable Transit Oriented Development
Pottstown is a community of about 23,000 people on the outskirts of the Greater Philadelphia Area (GPA). It's diverse and reflects the demographics of the GPA. The surrounding suburbs are less diverse. There's a chance that passenger rail will come out from Philadelphia to Reading and have a station in Pottstown. We're in the process of trying to implement Equitable Transit Oriented Development (ETOD), in the event that the passenger rail comes. There are multiple community groups and stakeholders to be involved, along with Pottstown Borough. It remains to be seen what the capacity is among the various entities involved in developing ETOD policies and programs. Community engagement is critical and needs to be developed more in the borough. There is a lot of potential for positive change in Pottstown.
