I live in Bala Cynwyd, close to City Ave. We can walk to a supermarket, to Manayunk; we can ride 2 different SEPTA bus routes into Center City. The neighborhood has many trees so recreational walking is terrific. The township planners are working hard to increase pedestrian and cycling connectivity.
