Freight Futures - Driving Forces Survey
The Freight Program at the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) is gearing up for some exciting work in the coming years and we need your input!
To kick off FY24, we are engaging in a scenario planning exercise in order to understand the future challenges and opportunities related to goods movement in our region. Scenario planning seeks to imagine a range of possible futures, as well as outline their challenges, opportunities, and outcomes the DVRPC region can expect as a result. The scenarios we develop will serve as basis for which the DVRPC and the region's freight stakeholders can craft flexible strategies that will be necessary for our region to keep freight activity sustainable, resilient, and equitable in 2040.
As a first step, we are asking for your feedback on a critical part of developing the scenarios - determining the driving forces that affect the freight industry. This exercise is important for us to gauge what our freight stakeholders believe are the trends affecting the industry, both today and in the future. The forces can be demographic, economic, environmental, and political in nature, but often times overlap in their influence.
On the following page, the forces will be presented for your consideration. The two aspects we would like you to consider are the likelihood the force will occur and the strength of its impact on goods movement in the region. You will be asked to rank each force, on both aspects, on a scale from Strong to Weak. In addition, you will then be asked for your input on any additional forces you believe are important for us to consider. This project is meant to be a collaboration and we welcome any and all feedback our stakeholders are willing to provide. Get started below by providing us with some basic information about yourself.
